The Evil Dead (1981) is one of the best B horror films of the 20th century. It is iconic, campy, and filled with blood. The 1981 American supernatural classic was written and directed by Sam Raimi and it stars the most famous B movie actor of all time - Bruce Campbell.

If you are interested in making a short horror movie, this is a great place to start. Bruce Campbell spills it all and shows us how to make his infamous fake blood that actually shows up well on camera.

Here is the recipe for Bruce Campbell’s Blood:

Half bottle of Karo Corn Syrup

1 full bottle of red food coloring and 1-2 drops of blue food coloring

Add Coffee Mate® until opaque and a thick paste

Instructions from Bruce Campbell himself

“I’m gonna teach you how to make fake blood. You take Karo syrup, the clear kind that you put on pancakes, not the dark kind, not the molasses stuff. Clear empty half of it out. Pour a full bottle of red food coloring. Then you take Coffee mate® which is non-dairy because you don’t want it to turn bad on you. Then make a paste, a really good paste, no lumps whatsoever. Put that in and now it’s opaque. The most important ingredient; one or two drops of blue. Because if you don’t it will get too bright and pink on you. Too much blue though will make it go purple. Test it on a white surface. Should cost you about 4 bucks. It still tastes bad. The syrup helped a little bit. It took the edge off it because at least it was sweet. Honestly, that’s all you need. It’s that simple. You can make freaking gallons of that stuff.” - Bruce Campbell

Make sure not to get it on anything that you don’t want stained. Happy Halloween, and good luck filming your next horror short covered in fake blood!
